Hollow sounding and loose tiles
With tile floors and walls, it can happen that a tile sounds hollow or is loose. This can happen especially with sliding doors, attached living areas, a tile floor that was laid too early, etc.
Repairing hollow-sounding and/or loose-fitting floor and wall tiles is done by injecting Stonefix 2-component epoxy injection adhesive under or behind the tile. The injection adhesive is very fluid and can therefore flow well under the tile. The 2-component injection adhesive cures within 5-8 hours so that you can enter the room afterwards.
Stonefix injection adhesive also works with double glued tiles because Stonefix epoxy adhesive is a very fluid substance, has a high degree of flexibility, fills the smallest minuscule gaps and can be used where underfloor heating is present.
Stonefix injection adhesive 2K is suitable not only for floor and wall tiles but also for varnished wooden floors and laminate. The product is available in 2 tube versions: 195 ml. (Do-It-Yourself) and 400 ml. (Professional) but there are also complete repair kits.
The minimum consumption of the injection adhesive is 1 litre of product per 1 m², this can also be more depending on whether the tile is loose or hollow sounding and whether the tile is laid with tile adhesive or in cement/mortar.
Causes of hollow-sounding or loose tiles are:
- Wrong tile adhesive used
- Wrong comb used
- Tension in the floor
- Tiles not double glued
- Switching on underfloor heating too early
- Laying floor too quickly
- Cement screed not completely dry
- After water damage
Should you want to have the tile floor or wall injected, Beltraco Repair Solutions can take care of this for you.
